A revolution is an idea which tends to get the better of power, history and time itself. The resilient ones shall last in the form of their ideas and their undying will. Aung San Suu Kyi, pro- democracy leader Myanmar, was recently freed from house arrest by the country’s reigning “Military Junta” after years of being secluded from the outer world and loved ones. The Nobel Peace Prize laureate has spent a shocking fifteen of the past twenty years ever since 20 July 1989 under confinement in a house, all the while going through a lot of emotional torture and loss. Just like with Nelson Mandela, that other great being, Suu Kyi seems to have got the better of all adversities. This, even as a tantalizing thought crosses your mind. WHAT IF THE COURAGEOUS REVOLUTIONARY HAD ACCESS TO A COMPUTER AND AN INTERNET WHILE UNDER SOLITARY CONFINEMENT IN THAT HOUSE? Just imagine her with her thought provoking blogs, Facebook notes and updates, Tweets and even daily uploaded You-Tube videos. A lone woman calling out to the world not for help but a revolution, a revolution to come together irrespective of race, caste and creed. A revolution to overthrow the greedy and blood thirsty power, to see the rise of WORLD PEACE. The very house in which she was confined would become the vibrant nucleus of a virtual activity. A World Wide Web phenomenon with tremors shaking the very roots of corrupt governments all over the world. Even as the gritty lady was freed on the 13th of November 2010, one just wonders; now fully exposed to a world with endless possibilities, what is on her mind. This, even as the next generation fiber optic based broadband is very much on the horizon, offering a mind boggling 1Gb/sec speed. “Ifs and Buts” aside, the onus is on Suu Kyi, as to what choice she makes. This world is full of beings loathing one another with the only shadow of gloom and mistrust in the air. Amidst this chaos we need a Hero. A real hero with a billion followers on Twitter and an overwhelming activity on her Facebook account. Let the tyrannical governments fall, let the common people come to power……………This, even as the “likes” of Mark Zuckerberg and the Google Guys won’t stop grinning.
