Blogging brought in a new ray of hope for aspiring writers. Everyone who thought they hadn’t had a chance or never thought about have new hopes of being recognized now and get published even. Haven’t we all heard about that random blog that got publishers hunting for the author? Yes, it does happen but like everything else in the world, it does not happen to everybody. If you are an aspiring writer, don’t kill your book by putting it up in your blog! Today’s writers need their loyal subscriber base before being considered for publishing and blogging sure is the way to do it! Blogging does help your portfolio but it is not a one way ticket to the publishing house. Always blog—for your readers.
The problem with writers and the world in general is that we look at everything as a means to an end. Not looking at the end gave many people the gift of surprise with the end itself. Why look at your blog as a marketing module for your book? Of course, it doesn’t hurt to keep that in mind but blogging is for the people, the readers who wait for your feed every week or day or two and the random click traveler looking to be inspired. Besides earning you a great subscriber base, blogging also helps you get over the writer’s block if you feel the pressure of one. The response of one random web reader is enough to do the trick.
Creating a niche for yourself through your blog is the way to attract a publisher indirectly or directly. While publishing e-books is also helpful, doing a little research on what the market wants and directing your blog in that angle gets you noticed with the readers and the publisher too!
