Unified communications is the incorporation of the real –time services of the communication like presence information, instant messaging, video conferencing, speech recognition, Telephony and call control with communication services that are non real-time like unified messaging (integrated email, fax, SMS and voice mail.) It is set of products that offer a continuous unified user experience and user interface across media types and multiple devices. It is also a trend that offers business process integration that means to integrate and simplify every form of communication in view for optimizing process of business and reducing the time of response, eliminating device and dependency on media and manage flows.
Unified communications permit a person on one medium to send message and receive on another. It must transfer any message or activity easily to another medium. For instance one can receive a voice mail message and select accessing it via a cell phone or email. There are two technologies of unified communications and they are the Cisco unified communications and Microsoft unified communications.
Microsoft unified communication technology deliver video and voice conference, instant messaging, VoIP and unified messaging to the productivity tools and devices that are used every day. Cisco unified communication connects information, people and teams helping to enable effective and comprehensive collaborative experiences.
Unified communication helps small, alike and large businesses to streamline delivery of information and make sure for its ease of use. There is also an elimination or minimization of human delays that result in faster, better service-delivery and interaction for the customers and cost cutting of the business. It permits as well for direst and easy collaboration between clients and suppliers and co-workers, even if they are not of the same site, physically. This permits for reductions that are possible in business travel, particularly with multi-party communications of video, lowering carbon footprint of an organization.
