In recent years, self esteem has been taught in the school system as a way to make children feel better about themselves and give them a better chance to succeed. But for those of us who left school far before that became the vogue, we are lacking in good information on how to find self esteem help.
What Is It?
You probably already know self esteem when you see it, but in yourself it is hard to recognize when you don’t have it. If you see someone who is sure of themselves, but not cocky, then they have it. On the other hand, if you don’t trust your own instincts, you feel that you will surely fail, and you don’t even try new things because you know that they will end poorly, then you definitely need self esteem help.
Negative Attitudes
If you think that you will fail, whether it is in the area of weight loss or getting a job, then there is no doubt that you will. A potential employer can immediately tell the difference between someone who walks in knowing they are going to get the job and someone who already knows that they won’t. People want to surround themselves by positive people, so it is in your best interest to get self esteem help in all areas of your life.
Positive People
If you find that you are always under attack by your family and friends, telling you what a loser you are or affirming all the reasons why you just can’t lose weight, then it is definitely time to find some new friends. People who love you and care for you will always provide you with positive affirmations as a way of showing their affection, just as you would for others. Those that are doing otherwise simply aren’t your friends.
Where Can You Get More Help?
There are many books on self esteem help available in any bookstore or library, but your quest for self esteem must first start with you. You should be able to look at yourself in the mirror and say that you deserve better in life and that you will fight to get it. Then, by surrounding yourself with other positive people and learning the skills that those with high self esteem already have, you will be giving yourself the best chance possible of living a highly successful and much happier life in the future.
