 A computer program that answers email sent to it automatically is known as autoresponder. They can vary from being simple to a complex one. The autoresponders that were created initially within the mail transfer agents that discovered that they cannot deliver email to the address given and hence, created bounce message like “your email cannot be delivered due to…” and responses like this. But, these days’ autoresponders are careful for not generating email backscatter that results in auto response thought to be as email spam. These are often used as a tool for email marketing to give information immediately to their prospective customers and then at preset time intervals do the follow-up.
